Sony is one of the top names when it comes to platform gaming and PlayStation is probably the most sold and used platform for gaming all over the world. Sony has recently announced to launch PS5, yet the date and other details are to be confirmed and there is no certainty what Sony has in store for its gamers.

Release Date
While Sony has announced that they are going to release the PS5 soon, the date is yet to be confirmed and there is no certain announcement from Sony in this regard. However, people are expecting it to be announced in late 2020, probably in the last quarter.
Price
The last platform released by Sony over well 7 years ago was PS4 and that was priced at $399. With such a gap of 7 years, no one can say for sure at what price PS5 is going to be launched. However, it is expected to fall under a $350-$500 price range.
Specifications
With a lot of speculations and wild guesses going around, there is a massive confusion of what PS5 will entail and if you should be considering an upgrade. People are also wondering if the upgrade from PS4 will be worth it. Due to the rumours and uncertain chatter on the internet, everyone is in utter confusion if the PS5 will actually be packing the specs that are expected. However, some certain hardware upgrades are confirmed and specs that can be expected are:
- CPU: PS5 is expected to be launched with an 8-core AMD chipset that is based on Third-Gen Ryzen Architecture.
- GPU: With the release of RTX2080, all eyes are stuck on Sony to compete for the GPU and it is expected that PS5 will be released with Navi GPU. However, nothing can be said with certainty about the GPU on PS5.
- Storage: PS5 is expected to have SSD storage to ensure faster loading speeds and better memory with lesser physical space to make the design more practical, stylish and sleek as it is expected by Sony.
- Output: While GTX2080 has revolutionized the media output with 8k TV support, PS5 is definitely going to support the resolution. However, it will be radial or actual and framerate support is yet to be confirmed by Sony.
Backward Support
The PS4 fans, who have invested so much on the titles over the past 7 years are waiting anxiously for the Sony to announce backward support if they will be able to play their PS4 games on PS5 with better resolution. It is certain that PS5 will be supporting PS4 titles. However, Sony has not confirmed it yet or if it is going to support any other platforms older than PS4.

EA has recently announced the development of BattleField 6 stating it will be for the next generation consoles, so we can say with certainty that it will be supported by PS5.

With the release of PS4, Sony took its signature ergonomic controller design and took it to a new level by creating truly wireless controllers, improved haptics, enhanced buttons, and joystick experience and adding the touch of modernization with that LED indicator on the top.
Sony has said, that they are going to improve the dual shock technology and replace it with adaptive haptic sensors to improve the gaming experience for the users. It is also announced, that developers are working on adaptive triggers to simulate the user experience and program them accordingly to provide more immersive gaming experience and complete control over the character movements.
There are a lot of rumours going around on the internet about controller design and what features it will pack. It is hard for anyone to say for sure at the moment, what changes are we going to see on the PS5 controller. However, not much has been changed since the release of the PlayStation with the controller shape and it is highly unlikely that we will see much difference when it comes to shape. However, under the hood changes and slight improvements to design are eminent and undeniable. It is also said, that PS5 controllers will feature USB Type-C port, replacing the micro USB port on PS4 controllers.
Design
There are a number of photos and concept designs over the internet speculating how the PS5 will be looking. When it comes to the design, it will only be confirmed when Sony releases their new PS5. Although, the futuristic and minimalistic look is obviously going to be there with ergonomic materials aesthetically designed and a glowing PS5 logo on it.
